Franco Mosca was born in Biella (VC) in 1942. He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pisa in 1966. He was student at the Medical College and PhD at Scuola Superiore S. Anna, Pisa. He has specializations in General Surgery, Urology and Emergency Surgery and Critical Care. From 1969 to 1980 he was Assistant Professor of General Surgery, Dep. of Surgery University of Pisa, from the 1980 to the 1986 he was Associate Professor of Surgery in the same department. Since 1986 he is Professor of Surgery at the Dep. of Surgery of the University of Pisa. He is Head of the Division of General Surgery, Department of Oncology at the University of Pisa; Director of the Residency Program in General Surgery of the University of Pisa Medical School; Coordinator of the Liver Transplant Program of Tuscany. Director of the Referral Centers of Tuscany for: transplantation, management of pancreatic diseases and Minimally Invasive Surgery and New Technologies in Surgery ENDODOC. Active member of over 15 Scientific Societies, including: the Italian Society of Surgery, the Italian Society for Organ Transplantation (President), the European Society of Surgery (Treasurer), the European Society for Organ Transplantation and the American College of Surgeons. He has personally performed more than 20,000 surgical procedures. |
