ESGAR 2005
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the organising committee, it is a great pleasure to invite
you to the 2005 ESGAR annual meeting. The annual meetings of our Society
have grown steadily over the years in terms of scientific quality and
attendance. Today it represents one of the most significant events in
the radiological subspecialty, thanks to the efforts by all Presidents
and Scientific Committees who have given us unforgettable opportunities
to share new advances in a very friendly atmosphere. |

I am confident that ESGAR 2005, which will take place in Florence from
May 28th to May 31st 2005, will compare favourably with previous
meetings.
The Scientific Programme, consisting of plenary and scientific sessions,
workshops, and satellite symposia, will cover in great detail all the
major aspects of our specialty focusing on the most exciting
developments in both diagnostic and interventional applications. The
Postgraduate Course will be devoted to "Liver imaging and intervention",
a topic encompassing all the major diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of
our discipline.
The congress venue is located in a beautiful complex around an ancient
villa which is perfectly suited for our meeting, thanks to the
availability of many different spaces both for the scientific sessions
and for the technical exhibition. Moreover, the Congress venue has the
additional advantage of being located just in the centre of the city, in
front of the main railway station, in walking distance of the hotels and
the most important historic and artistic monuments of the city.
Florence needs little introduction as it is world famous for its
breathtaking beauty and artistic treasures, which attract the curiosity
and the wonderment of millions of people every year. During the
springtime, the city has a lovely atmosphere that can be enjoyed in the
well preserved historical centre in a setting of rolling hills.
In the museums and the churches of Florence you will have the
opportunity to admire many of the famous masterpieces that represent a
precious heritage for all humanity. In the medieval streets, sightseeing
and shopping will allow you to relax after the scientific experience of
ESGAR. At the end of the day we will have the opportunity to enhance our
friendships by sitting together in lively open-air cafés, and last but
not least, to taste typical Italian food and wines.
I look forward to welcoming you to Florence, for a meeting that I am
sure will be both scientifically successful and enjoyable.
See you at ESGAR 2005!
Carlo Bartolozzi
