Vincenzo Ferrari (vincenzo.ferrari@endocas.org)

Vincenzo Ferrari was born in 1976 in Italy. He received the master degree in computer science engineering from the University of Pisa in 2001. In 2002 he worked at ISTC-CNR (National Research Council) on motion modeling and surface deformation for a 3D talking face. From 2003 to 2005 he worked on machine vision, voice interactive systems, animatronics and 3D avatars, and he received a master in Energetics. In January 2006 he joined to the EndoCAS Centre as PhD Student in Health Technologies at the University of Pisa. He defended his thesis on february 2009 "Improving daily clinical practice with abdominal patient specific 3D models" regarding segmentation, registration and mixed reality.

 

Carla Cappelli (carla.cap@tiscali.it)

Carla Cappelli was born in 1974 in Pisa. In 2000 she graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pisa and she specialized in Radiology in 2004. In 2005 she was Research Fellow at the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology of the Department of Oncology, Transplants and Advanced Technologies in Medicine of the University of Pisa. Since 2006 she is PhD Student in Health Technologies at the Universityof Pisa, working in the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology; she also collaborates with the EndoCAS Centre of the University of Pisa. Her main research interests are in the field of abdominal multidetector CT, particularly on its application to pancreatic diseases.

 

Marina Carbone (marina.carbone@endocas.org)

Marina Carbone was born in 1983 in Messina, Italy. She received the master degree in Biomedical engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2009. She is currently a Ph.D. student in Innovative Technologies at Scuola Superiore sant’Anna, Pisa, and works in the EndoCAS centre on automation of abdominal 3D patient specific anatomy extraction. Her main research interests are in the field of biomedical imaging, robotics and computer-assisted surgery.

 

Sara Condino (sara.condino@endocas.org)

Sara Condino was born in 1982 in Pisa. She received the master degree in Biomedical engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2008. She is currently a Ph.D. student at the EndoCAS Centre and working on endovascular navigation systems. Her main research interests are in the field of biomedical robotics and computer-assisted surgery.

 

 

 

Cinzia Freschi (cinzia.freschi@endocas.org)

Cinzia Freschi was born in in Caserta (Italy), on December 25, 1969. She received the master degree in Computer Engineer from the University of Pisa in 1998, and in the same year she joined to the Advanced Robotics Technology and Systems Laboratory (ARTS Lab) of the Scuola Superiore sant’Anna. Her research interests were in the field of rehabilitation engineering and biomedical robotics. Since 2004, she has been a Research  Assistant at the CRIM Lab of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. Her main research interests are in the field of biomedical robotics and computer assisted surgery.

 

Andrea Moglia (andrea.moglia@endocas.org)

Andrea Moglia received his Master’s Degree in Engineering from University of Brescia (Italy) in 2003. From 2004 to 2008 he collaborated with CRIM Lab of Scuola Sant'Anna in Pisa (Italy) in the field of capsule endoscopy. In 2008 he received a PhD in Microsystems Engineering from  University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy).

His main research interests include virtual endoscopy, interactive 3D applications in medicine and science and graphical interfaces. He is author of papers on ISI journals and international conferences.

 

 

Paolo Parchi (p.parchi@endocas.org)

Paolo Parchi was born in 1978 in Italy. He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pisa in 2003 and he specialized in Orthopaedic and Traumatology in 2008. He is a currently a Ph.D. student at the EndoCAS Centre. From January 2009 he is Research Fellow at the Ist  Orthopadic Clinic of Pisa University. He is actively involved in research project in Hip Replacement Surgery “Periprosthetic bone densitometry of the HIP: the influence of the stem design on regional bone remodeling in THA” and spine surgery.

 

Alessandro Sala (alessandro.sala@endocas.org)

Alessandro Sala was born in 1984 in Monza, Italy. He received his master degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano in 2009, defending his thesis "An algorithm for the evaluation of humeral intra-extra rotation not affected by Soft Tissue Artifacts", based on a project developed at CREST Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne (UK), for wich he received a scholarship by the european project Lifelong Learning Programme. Currently he is a scholarship holder at EndoCAS Centre, and works on the biomechanical characterization of tissues in surgical simulation.His main research interests are in the field of opto-electronic systems and computer-assisted surgery.

 

Giuseppe Turini (giuseppe.turini@endocas.org)

Giuseppe Turini was born in 1975 in Pescia (Pistoia, Italy). He received the master degree in Computer Science from the University of Pisa in 2004, and in the same year he joined to the Visual Computing Lab of the CNR-ISTI in Pisa. Since 2005 he is a research fellow at the EndoCAS Centre, and his main research interests are in the field of computer graphics visualization and physical simulation. At the present time his research is carried out in the context of computer-assisted surgery.
